Circle In Circle: Compulsion

BmoreArt Article

I feel a powerful compulsion to make, the act of manipulating material soothing restless hands and instilling comfort. This is both a physical test of how far I can push my productivity, as well as an investigation into the emotional response I elicit from repetition. Through the form of a wheel-thrown ceramic plate, I am able to deconstruct the process of the making itself, discovering the intricacies of hand posture and the movement of clay frame-by-frame. This work is self-contained; a closed loop. It is a love letter to muscle memory, to the teachings of clay, and to the indulgence of a habit.
